Mount Pleasant Group Equity in Action Award |
The Mount Pleasant Group Equity in Action Award recognizes existing or new hospice-led initiatives that have improved access to hospice palliative care services for equity-deserving communities. This award is open to any HPCO member hospice providing service in the province of Ontario.
The award is a cash prize of $10,000 payable to the selected hospice.
Eligibility Criteria
The hospice must:
- Be a member in good standing of Hospice Palliative Care Ontario, in the organization category.
- Be physically located in Ontario. Note: Hospices serving these regions but not physically located in these regions are not eligible.
- Provide Visiting Hospice services or Hospice Residence Services as defined by HPCO Standards.
The initiative must have been:
- Created for one or more equity-deserving community including but not limited to:
- Indigenous peoples
- Black, and Racialized peoples
- 2SLGBTQI+ populations
- People with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- People living with dementia
- People experiencing homelessness
- Created in partnership and/or with involvement from an equity-deserving group, a community organization and/or a research institution that has expertise in the targeted equity-deserving community.
What Projects/Innovations Qualify for the Award?
- Initiatives that demonstrate the improvement of access to hospice palliative care for equity-deserving populations in their community; or
- Initiatives that remove the barriers for equity-deserving communities to receive hospice palliative care; or
- Initiatives that support either skills building or knowledge transfer, improving access to hospice palliative care for equity-deserving communities.
