Future Land Use Recommendations
The future land use map and district and uses table shown below illustrates how the city would like to see land used in the future and informs future zoning updates. These recommendations do not change existing zoning.
1.Please share any comments you have on the Future Land Use map and uses below.
1. Northern Andrews Road District
This is a focus area of the Comprehensive Plan. The goal of this area is to create a vibrant and connected town center with restaurants and shops and events for residents to gather. In order to develop this area a combination of design guidelines, streetscape, connectivity, and asset improvements are needed. Recommendations for this area are illustrated below.
Overlay District & Improved Streetscaping - Below is an example of improved streetscaping and overlay district standards along Northern Andrews Road.
2.Which of the following recommendations are your top two priorities in the Northern Andrews Road District?
Highest Priority
Second Highest Priority
Optimize Mentor Beach Park - Collaborate with the City of Mentor to improve park amenities and to offer more frequent events at the park.
Improve access to Lake & Develop Beach - Though costly, this improvement would satisfy the public’s desire for lake access and make the park a community asset.
Develop Overlay District & Improve Streetscaping - Create design standards to regulate “look and feel” of future development and streetscaping, encourage walkability & street activity.
Lakeshore Bike Lanes - Extend from Hopkins Road
Develop Andrews Trail - Convert eastern walk to 10’ wide trail within existing roadway right-of-way
Construct Linden Sidewalk - Along one side of road to link neighborhoods to Andrews
3.Are there any recommendations in the Northern Andrews Road District that you are not interested in implementing?
No Interest in this Improvement

2. Munson Road Mixed Use - This is a focus area of the Comprehensive Plan and is important for both the appearance of Mentor on the Lake and could be a large economic driver, providing income tax and job creation opportunities within the City. Illustrated below is an example of what a mixed use land use could provide. This is a hypothetical development and shown for illustration only.
4.Select the land uses illustrated below that you think should be included in the Mixed-Use District?
5.Do you think the scale (number of stories) and density of the illustrations in the previous question are appropriate for the area?
6.Please express any additional thoughts you have on the recommendations presented or about the future of Mentor-on-the-Lake below:
