VISITING SCHOLAR AND WORKSHOP GRANTS
This program enables teachers to call in their own experts, to seek outside advice on teaching and curriculum issues, and to organize workshops that meet their specific needs. Funds are used to pay for substitute teachers, workshop leader/visiting scholar fees and related expenses.
Funds may be used in many ways. Teachers may wish to invite a guest speaker from an
S.T.I. course, a consultant who has previously worked in the district or a subject-matter specialist
with whom they would like to work.
A workshop may involve exploration or use of specific equipment, new materials or
activities pertinent to a group of teachers, a grade level or a department. A workshop may be given
by an outside leader or a Scarsdale staff member.
