Preamble and Guide to Voting:

HSU members are now being asked to vote on whether to endorse the proposed HSU claims for the Medical Imaging and Radiation Award.

If members vote to endorse the claims, they will be presented to the NSW Government to commence negotiations.

Only HSU members' votes will be counted.

This vote is in two parts:

Conditions claims:

Members are asked to vote on the proposed HSU conditions claims. You will be asked questions:

  1. Do you endorse the claims?
  2. Will you take industrial action in support of these claims? (For example: putting bans on some types of work or holding stop-work meetings)
  3. Provide a ranking of which conditions are your priorities in negotiations.

The first two questions (1) and (2) are your formal vote.

The prioritisation questions at (3) do not form part of your formal vote. This information is to help understand members’ priority claims.

Profession specific classification and pay claims:

Members are asked to vote on the proposed HSU classification and pay claims for your profession. You will be asked 3 sets of questions:

  1. Do you endorse the claims?
  2. Do you pledge to take industrial action, if necessary, in support of these claims?
  3. Rank each item in the classification and pay claims according to how crucial they are to addressing attraction and retention issues in the health system.

As above, the first two questions (1) and (2) are your formal vote.

The ranking questions at (3) do not form part of your formal vote. This information is to help understand members’ priority claims.

How will the vote work across professions?

HSU Medical Imaging and Radiation accredited delegates have determined the voting process will occur as follows:

  • All members under the proposed Award will vote on the MIR conditions claims.
  • Members employed within a professional category vote on the profession-specific classification and pay claims. E.g., if you are a diagnostic radiographer, you will vote on the diagnostic radiographer claims, but not other professions.
Endorsement will occur when:
  • A majority of members endorse the conditions claims, and
  • All professions respectively endorse, by majority, the classification and pay claims.
