Veterinary Practice on One Health related to Harmful Algal Blooms |
The Ohio State University (OSU), in collaboration with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), Ohio Department of Health (ODH), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
(MDHHS), and Michigan and Ohio Veterinary Medical Associations, is sending this survey to Ohio
and Michigan veterinarians. The aim of the survey is to assess veterinarians’ knowledge and
practices related to Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) commonly known as blue-green algae toxicosis
in animals. We request for your voluntary participation in this survey which should only take less
than five (5) minutes.
This study was reviewed and approved by ODH Institutional Review Board (IRB), and was
determined exempt from OSU IRB.
Informed Consent: Thank you for participating in this self-administered and anonymous survey.
Please respond to the survey questions to the best of your knowledge. The purpose of this survey
is to help the researchers to better understand veterinary practices related to HAB toxicosis in
animals and develop a future study plan. Data will also be used to help inform public health
decision makers develop a public health interventions plan. As the Principal Investigator (PI), I do
not anticipate any risks to participants in this study other than those encountered in day-to-day life.
The results of the study will be shared with the CDC to improve public health interventions and
may be published for scientific purposes. Since there is no individual practice or personal
identifiers information being collected, the chance of participants being identified or connected to
the results is eliminated. If you have any questions about this study, please feel free to contact the
PI, Dr. Jiyoung Lee.
