The Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) identifies three mathematics pathways including preparation for calculus, statistics, and quantitative reasoning. To improve the transferability of mathematics courses, as well as to strengthen the mathematics pathways at independent colleges and universities participating in the MiTransfer Pathways programs, we invite institutions to identify the entry-level, credit-bearing college-level course corresponding to College Algebra, Statistics, and Quantitative Reasoning. Please identify the most common entry-level course corresponding to: College Algebra, Statistics, and Quantitative Reasoning. If your institution does not offer an entry-level course in the pathway as a college-level course (for example, College Algebra is considered a remedial or prerequisite course and does not meet any graduation requirements), please indicate that in the comment box.
Please identify the one most common course in the pathway used to meet graduation requirements. For example, if Institution A offered Statistics, Statistics for Nursing Majors, and Advanced Statistics, please include the requested information for the course most frequently used to meet graduation requirements. In this example, it would likely be Statistics. We expect that this information will require input from the mathematics department chair, registrar, and institutional researchers.
This information will be used to create course equivalency matrices, and institutions are encouraged to use the matrices to improve the course-to-course transferability of these gateway college mathematics courses.
