The local unit chair coordinates the activities and the direction of the unit. They participate in committees and makes sure that they are productive, accountable, and following local unit rules. They encourage membership, and keep members informed and engaged. They attend committee meetings and lead local unit meetings.

The local unit co-chair supports the chair to accomplish the work of the unit. This may include acting as chair in the event that the chair is away or assuming the position if there is a mid-term vacancy.

The local unit secretary is responsible for notifying members of upcoming events and important information, such as upcoming local unit meetings. They produce and maintain records such as meeting minutes and local unit newsletters.

The local unit treasurer maintains local unit funds. They use local unit vouchers to pay expenses approved by the officer team. They keep records of expenses in the unit, including receipts, and report the finances to the officer team.

The local unit membership officers greets new employees, answers questions regarding union participation, and provides applications as needed. They also manage communication with members through online and virtual platforms.

Local unit grievance officers enforce the contract on the unit. They answer questions and concerns of the staff, as it relates to the contract, and advocate for their co-workers. They work with the nurse rep to resolve conflicts using the grievance process outlined in the contract.
