General City Rankings

Beginning in December of each year, the City’s Finance Department works with departments to begin the budgetary process for the upcoming year. With direction from the City Manager, departmental budgets are prepared based on available resources. Staff uses City Council’s strategic initiatives and goals, that are set in December, as a guide when developing the budget as well as their internal priorities. A draft budget is presented to City Council for review and input in April. Recommendations are incorporated, and a final budget is adopted in May before it takes effect on July 1.

This year, the City is seeking input from residents to help inform and guide the budgetary process and Council's strategic priorities. An annual satisfaction and budget priority survey will assist in ensuring that our tax dollars are spent according to our community's priorities, as well as provide staff a benchmarking mechanism to continue to improve services over time. The survey will be open through December 8, 2024.
