Purpose of Study: The purpose of this study is to examine the association between microaggression frequency and black, indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC) identity. Additionally, the study aims to examine the effects of microaggressions on residents’ satisfaction and completion rate of residency training.

Procedures: This study is a national study of current and former pharmacy PGY-1 residents. Participants are asked to complete the following survey. The survey will ask you various demographic questions followed by a validated survey tool to assess the frequency of microaggressions, questions about residency satisfaction, and survey questions regarding the effects of microaggressions on your behavior and successful completion of your residency.People of all races, ethnicities, sexual identities, and genders are invited to participate in the study.

Discomforts and Risks: Participation in this survey is voluntary. The way that you answer these questions will not impact your professional or social standing in your current professional capacity or educational setting. Responses that you provide will be collected anonymously; your name and other identifying information will only be collected or stored voluntarily and will remain confidential. All data will be presented in aggregate.

Potential Benefits: You will not benefit from being in this study. However, the information researchers get from this study may help others in the future. Currently, the effects of microaggressions on pharmacy residents are unknown. This study will help identify the frequency of microaggressions and how they affect residents’ outcomes and programmatic satisfaction.

Period of Time Required: This is a 22-question survey, which should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
