What is this about?
Earlier in 2024, it was widely agreed in the dairy industry and government that a plan was needed to halt the decline of milk production in Queensland.
A project advisory group was established, consisting of eastAUSmilk, DPI, Bega, Norco, Lactalis, DFMC, and Sub-Tropical Dairy. A project manager was hosted by eastAUSmilk.
The project was to be about:
• identifying and addressing strategic issues for the future of the dairy industry,
• growing the milk pool in Queensland,
• building the economic viability of dairy farming across Queensland,
• facilitating uptake of productivity and efficiency improvements across the dairy industry, and
• building industry and community confidence in the future of the dairy industry in Queensland.
As you are probably aware, there were district meetings across Queensland, one-on-one meetings with stakeholders, and an online survey, all seeking feedback and suggestions. Individuals also emailed their analyses, views, and suggestions. An enormous number of suggestions were received, and all were looked at by the Advisory Group.
The Advisory Group has now produced a draft dairy industry plan for Queensland, and that’s what we want your feedback about.
Your response will be anonymous.
Please download a copy of the draft plan from https://www.eastausmilk.org.au/projects/dairy-plan-for-queensland before providing your feedback.
The following questions provide a guide, but you can also email feedback to Mike@eam.org.au.
When you comment on something specific in the plan, please refer to the page and paragraph if possible.
