The Lampitt Medal provides a means by which the Society can honour Members who have taken Leslie Lampitt's example and offered their own extraordinary gifts of time, leadership, vision and enthusiasm. Only those who have contributed to a variety of aspects of the Society are eligible to receive the award.

The requirements for the Lampitt Medal focus on the time and energy that Members put into their activities with a variety of committees or committees, and especially the Board of Trustees and major committees. The Membership Committee considers the nominations. Nominators are asked to identify the activities that the Nominee has delivered and the time during which they have served the society.

As the award reflects both exceptional service and variety of service, the Nominators are also asked to explain some of the important activities that the Nominee undertook and to explain how they were successful. Nominators may also explain activities which may have fallen outside the remit of these activities but which had an impact on the Society and also how the Nominee deployed their professional skills to further the Society’s interests.

Nominated by: Any SCI member, or SCI staff member may make a nomination. Members of the Board, major committees and Groups are particularly invited to do so. Nominees must not be informed that they are being nominated, the process must remain confidential.

SCI e-members are not eligible to be nominated, nor to make a nomination, for a Lampitt medal.
