Undergraduate/Graduate Research/Creativity Support Fund Application Form - Faculty

Description:

The Office for Student Research and Creativity (OSRC) at John Jay College provides financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate students, or their faculty mentors, to support their research/creative projects. Funds of up to $500 may be requested on a one time basis to cover costs directly associated with student work on a project. Funds must be directly tied to the completion of the student research or creative project. Faculty provided research supply money through other John Jay programs (PRISM, McNair, etc.) for the same student and project are not eligible. For faculty working with cohorts of multiple students, OSRC will consider larger requests for support.

Support Fund applications may be submitted any time during the academic year. Applications will be reviewed once per month with the review cycle tied to the first of the month. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please submit all applications to Bettina Muenster, Office for Student Research & Creativity (OSRC), osrc@jjay.cuny.edu; Room 204.01HH; (212) 887-6237.

Application process:

Both the student and the faculty must submit an application form, including a brief description of the research or creative work, an outline of the student involvement in the project, the number of students affected, a justification for the funds, and any documentation needed to support the request. Funds must be requested before the research is conducted.

Funds may be used for a variety of research/creative related costs, including:

·       Student travel within the five NYC boroughs (i.e., metro cards for student participation at conferences or attendance at project-related events);
·       Incentives for research with human subjects;
·       Printing (including posters for presentations);
·       General research/creative supplies;
·       Data collection fees;
·       Software programs.

Other requests, not listed above, will be considered and are subject to the approval by the Assistant Director.
