Drainage survey |
Plumbing misconnections
The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) would like to thank you for taking part in this short survey on drainage, which is part of the Safe Water campaign.
Waste water from inside our homes, e.g. water from WCs, bidets, kitchen sinks and bathroom washbasins, showers, washing machines and dishwashers, should all be piped underground to the local sewage treatment works, where it is treated before discharge to a river or stream. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen because a misconnection in the plumbing system has caused the water to flow into the surface water drain. This can lead to pollution in streams, rivers and on local beaches.
