Oliver 100x100 Community Support |
The year 2021 marks 100 years of the Oliver community, a community formed on and shaped by the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation, whose history stretches back 10,000 years. Late in 2020, a year-long project entitled “One Hundred X One Hundred/x̌cəcikst X x̌cəcikst” was launched, providing an opportunity to explore our roots and share wisdom to build a stronger shared community, a deeper connection to the land, and to grow our future together for generations to follow.
The project’s Planning Committee, coordinated by Oliver Parks and Recreation, includes members representing local community partners: the Town of Oliver, Oliver & District Heritage Society, Osoyoos Indian Band, Oliver Tourism Association, Oliver Community Arts Council, the Venables Theatre and the Oliver Punjabi community. On behalf of the 100x100 Planning Committee I would like to invite your organization/business to participate in commemorating the important milestones and history of both the Osoyoos Indian Band and the Oliver community throughout the year ahead and beyond.
Some easy and effective ways for your business/organization to immediately help promote the 100x100 project in 2021 is to use the project logo on your website and any promotional items you develop, share social media posts, provide a link on your website to the 100x100 project information and fill out and return the short questionnaire attached to this letter. The more we all work together on this project the brighter the future of Oliver will be!
