Background and criteria

The Kent Maddock memorial award was launched at Q Shelter’s AGM in November 2022 and acknowledges place-based alliances taking action to end homelessness and housing need.

The successful initiative will be judged by a suitably qualified panel considering the following criteria:
  • The initiative is a Place-based alliance taking action to end homelessness and housing need
  • There is diverse participation and the initiative engages various stakeholders. This can include the community sector, for-profit sector, any level of government, arts, sports etc.
  • The alliance has actively worked to overcome competition and achieve respectful partnerships in which leadership is encouraged and shared
  • The alliance is having a positive impact in terms of housing and homelessness responses or is on a trajectory to have a positive impact.
The Award will include:
  • A plaque or similar sourced from a First Nations’ supplier
  • Certificates for the participating partners
  • A tile for social media and email signatures
  • An honour board on Q Shelter's website.
Applications close 30 September 2024. The Award will be announced at the Q Shelter CEO and Leaders’ Forum, this year scheduled for 14 November.
