About this Award
Established to honor AOSW volunteers, this $1,000 award provides complimentary registration to AOSW Conference and an annual opportunity to recognize an exceptional, experienced oncology social worker and active volunteer of AOSW. Only AOSW Board or Committee Members can nominate someone for the Volunteer of the Year Award; the Awards Committee cannot nominate anyone for this award. The award is presented to an oncology social worker who, in the day-to-day delivery of compassionate service, is a model for the profession itself. This award is supported through contributions to AOSW.
Award Criteria: 
  • Nominations only accepted from AOSW Board Members/Committee Members. 
  • Must be an active member of AOSW who has volunteered/demonstrated leadership for the organization. 
  • Must have a BSW or MSW. 
  • Preference given to an individual without institutional support.
Nomination Requirements:
  • Completed Nomination form
  • Nominee’s resume or curriculum vitae 
  • Letters of support (minimum of two, no more than four) addressing criteria for the appropriate award from other social work professionals, co-workers, hospital administrators, or community agency representatives
