About the Artist
Established by the New Hampshire Art Association, the Barbara Morse Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of artist Barbara Morse by supporting talented New Hampshire high school seniors who share her creative aspirations.
Barbara Morse was a dedicated New Hampshire artist who cherished her role within the visual arts community and deeply believed in the transformative power of artistic expression to inspire and connect people.
Her journey began with attending art college, where she discovered a supportive community of students and professors who encouraged her to embrace art as a profession. She honed her skills and developed her artistic vision, beginning her career as an illustrator for renowned publishing houses and national publications like Houghton-Mifflin and Yankee Magazine.
As her artistic vision evolved, Barbara transitioned into fine art, creating works primarily in graphite. Her unique style, In Sharp Focus, earned her recognition throughout New England and membership in prestigious organizations such as New York’s Salmagundi Club, the New Hampshire Art Association, and Boston’s Copley Society, where she achieved the distinction of Copley Artist.
This scholarship carries on Barbara's legacy by encouraging young artists to pursue their passions and providing them with the resources to achieve their artistic goals.
