Strategies For Mentoring and Coaching
This mini-course is designed for new or prospective Clinical Faculty members, but is open to all who are interested. Topics include an overview of the MSU Portrait of a Teacher, exploration of the meaning of mentoring and coaching, an introduction to clinical supervision including feedback and conferencing, an examination of various dimensions of the cooperating teacher-junior faculty member relationship, co-teaching strategies, and sharing the wisdom of practice.
This mini-course fulfills the MSUNER requirement for Mentoring for new Clinical Faculty. Limit 20 participants.
NOTE: This is an ONLINE mini-course. It does not meet for face to face classes. Instead, using the Canvas Learning Management System, students will work asynchronously with professor guidance through the course over a two week period, totaling approximately six hours of work. There will be small assignments that need to be submitted each week. All assignments must be completed to get PD credit for the course.
* Access to the course will be provided upon confirmation. Course will run for 2 weeks.
