Overview
Land Use 2020 is dedicated to biodiversity offsetting. The program is designed to bring together leading international and Canadian researchers, policy-makers, practitioners and stakeholders to explore the potential and challenges of biodiversity offsetting in policy and practice.
Objectives
This conference program is inspired by recent trends towards the use of market-based instruments to conserve biodiversity and ecosystems. There is growing interest in offsetting as a policy option, but Canadian policy-makers often have limited experience with this subject matter, a gap this conference hopes to fill.
Audience
The event will be host to 200 participants. Audience members and panel participants will represent multiple sectors including:
- Federal/Provincial/Territorial Governments
- Academia
- Industry & practitioners
- Non-profit organizations
