Calling all health practitioners, health information managers, data practitioners, data scientists and students doing health and/or data-related degrees!

Are you interested in learning cutting edge approaches to data analysis?

Want to know how to use business intelligence and machine learning tools?

Are you keen to make connections, work in a cross-disciplinary and inter-professional team and contribute to real-world outcomes for the health sector?

Yes? Well, we have an opportunity for you and all you need is an internet connection!

What’s involved?

In partnership with Microsoft for Healthcare, Microsoft Education and MyScoreIT, DHCRC is running an online datathon. Basically, in small teams, academia and industry will come together virtually around a MyScoreIT dataset. During this intensive, multi-day format, participants will learn new skills, solve industry-based problems and produce practical, real-world outcomes.

During the datathon, teams will answer real questions from clinical practice posed by MyScoreIT, troubleshoot relevant health management challenges, and produce data analysis tools and models that can be readily applied to produce clinical evidence and support decision making.

Why participate?

Employees with data capabilities are highly sought-after in the health sector and developing these skills has never been more relevant for degree completion, career progression and employability. This datathon is not only an opportunity to upskill but a chance to collaborate and learn alongside those from multiple disciplines and professions and across career stages.

About the dataset

MyScoreIT, an Australian start-up founded by two Sport and Exercise Medicine Physicians, has generously provided data for this datathon. The dataset is from an online application they have created for health practitioners, which is used to collect Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) electronically.

About the datathon

The datathon will be delivered in two mandatory parts (see dates and details in the schedule below). Part one involves 1.5 days of training with Microsoft tools and part two is the actual datathon, which will be held over two days. During the datathon, participants will practically apply what they learned in training and produce models and dashboards based on MyScoreIT data. After the event, MyScoreIT will choose their favourite dashboards and models and embed them in their business processes.
