The Coach is responsible for the development of player's skills as well as promoting positive attitudes towards physical activity and sport in general.

» Hold appropriate qualifications as stipulated by the league/region/state
» Maintain a thorough knowledge of the laws of the game
» Encourage players and team support officials to abide by the rules at all times
» Encourage players and team support officials to support and respect the NRL National Code of Conduct
» Foster club spirit amongst all players and encourage them to participate in a sporting
» manner
» Ensure that the coaching reflects the level of the competition being played
» Encourage players to develop a proper attitude to competitiveness
» Encourage players to become involved in rugby league as a safe, healthy and enjoyable activity
» Introduce programs to improve player’s fitness levels for a healthier lifestyle
» Have a sound understanding of modern coaching and teaching principles
» Have good motivational and communication skills
» Liaise with the club’s Coaching Co-ordinator as and when required
» Support the coaching initiatives and philosophy of the club and league/region/state
» Be able to evaluate player performance and provide positive coaching advice Test, evaluate and refine each player’s individual skills.

This document sets out the minimum levels of conduct expected of Club Committee Members, Coaches, Officials, Players, Parents and Supporters. It is to be read in conjunction with the NRL National Code of Conduct and is intended to supplement and not replace that code. Breaches of this code may be considered as acting in a manner prejudicial to the interests of the club and can result in disciplinary action as set out in Rule 11 and or 11b of the clubs rules.

a) I will promote the interests of the club and make decisions based on the long term health of the club.

b) I will be proactive in supporting the club in its recruitment activities, social and fundraising events. I will support the club in collecting outstanding fees from my players.

c) I will engage with player’s parents and explain my decisions as they impact on their child.

d) I will remember that players participate for enjoyment and winning is only part of the fun.

e) I will never ridicule or yell at players for making a mistake or not winning.

f) I will be reasonable in my demands on players’ time, energy and enthusiasm.

g) I will operate within the rules and spirit of the game and teach my players to do the same.

h) I will accept responsibility for my actions and decisions.

i)I will ensure that the time players spend with me is a positive experience. All players are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.

j) I will avoid the overplaying of talented players and understand that all players need and deserve their place in the team.

k) I will not use bad language nor will I harass players, officials, spectators or other coaches.

l) I will ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players.

m) I will display control, respect and professionalism to all involved with the sport includ
