The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE's) Office of College and Career Readiness is providing an opportunity for public comment on the proposed Perkins V State Determined Performance Levels (SDPLs) for federal fiscal year (FY) 25 (Program Year 2026).
The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) was signed into law on July 31, 2018, and the state Perkins V plan became effective July 1, 2019. As required by the U.S. Department of Education, the current Perkins V SDPL accountability measures must be revised for both secondary and postsecondary concentrators effective for FY 24-FY 27. DESE changed the Perkins V SDPL accountability measures in FY 21, when student assessments were suspended, school buildings were closed, and alternative methods of delivering Career and Technical Education (CTE) instruction were in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Per U.S. Department of Education regulations, those measures must be recalculated and reset annually. A secondary task force consisting of area career center directors and a postsecondary task force consisting of community college CTE administrators met to review current SDPLs and to propose new SDPLs for FY 25 (Program Year 2026).
