Downtown Ashland Association (DAA) is seeking public input on the concept of a Mid-Atlantic Railroad Park.  This proposed walking tour-style park would be a place-making feature for Downtown Ashland, Virginia, which traces its railroad heritage from the 1830s.

Exhibits throughout Downtown would feature existing assets--such as the train mural, historic station and red caboose--plus railroad history and highlights of modern rail transportation.  All exhibits would be free and open to the public year-round.  A mobile application with additional information, visuals, sound and video would enhance visitor's experiences.

The objective for developing a Railroad Park is to bring greater economic activity to Ashland/Hanover and enhance the quality of the visitor experience in Ashland.  This place-making effort would showcase the community's story, while creating both an attraction and entertainment in Downtown Ashland.
