Occupational hygiene is the science of anticipating, identifying, evaluating and controlling workplace health hazards with the objective of safeguarding worker health and communities.

Occupational hygiene involves developing programs, policies and assessing potential exposures (e.g. by air sampling, noise assessment, indoor air quality testing, etc.) to reduce risks associated with chemical, biological and physical hazards that can cause illness and disease.
