JUDICIAL QUALIFICATIONS SURVEY

Under the Gila River Indian Community Constitution and Bylaws (constitution), the Chief Judge and Associate Judges must be:
  • A Community member,
  • 25 years of age or older,
  • Live on the Reservation one (1) year prior to election, and
  • Not have been convicted of a crime one (1) year prior to election.
The constitution authorizes additional qualifications by ordinance.

This survey is to collect Community Member’s opinions on whether the Chief Judge and Associate Judges should possess additional qualifications. The results will be reported to the Legislative Standing Committee of the Community Council.
