Help us shape the future of Clement Morgan Park and the Paolillo Tot Lot.

The City of Cambridge is working to reduce flooding and improve safety and accessibility in The Port. As part of the Port Infrastructure Improvements Project, we are working with community members to:
  • upgrade underground utilities
  • install underground water and sewage storage tanks
  • improve safety and accessibility on streets and sidewalks
  • plant new trees and landscaping
  • install public art
  • enhancing public open spaces including Clement Morgan Park and the Paolillo Tot Lot

1.What is your connection to The Port neighborhood?
As part of the Port Infrastructure Improvements Project, we are working with residents and community members to make improvements to Clement Morgan Park and the Paolillo Tot Lot.

After listening to residents and gathering ideas for how to improve the park, we are considering some changes to the park layout and activity areas. Your input on the park layout will help us develop design options and the final park design.

There is a "we are here" text bubble next to #2.
2.We are planning several upgrades and enhancements to the park based on ideas shared by residents and community members. Which of these ideas are you most excited about?
PLAY AREAS

Here are a few different ideas about the layout and locations of the play areas:
  • Idea 1: Keep the same layout as today
  • Idea 2: Move the splash pad out of the shade and into the main park
  • Idea 3: Combine the little and big kids' play areas in the main park and repurpose the space in the current tot lot
Ideas 2 and 3 would expand the play area in the main park where there is flexible open space today (shown in green below) in order to fit the splash pad and little kids' play area.

4.What other ideas do you have to improve the play areas?
BASKETBALL COURT AREA

Based on community input, we will install new surfacing and a new fence around the basketball court.

We are also considering three ideas related to the layout and location of the court:
  • Idea 1: Keep the existing layout
  • Idea 2: Add "runout space" around the court and expand the seating area next to the court
  • Idea 3: Add "runout space", expand the seating, and shift the court to add shade trees and a new spectator area along Columbia and/or Washington Street

5.Which ideas do you think we should explore?
6.What other ideas do you have for changes that improve the court area?
ADULT & TEEN SPACES

Some residents are interested in creating more adult and teen spaces in the park. The images below show some examples of adult and teen spaces:
  • Neighborhood gym with outdoor workout equipment
  • Game tables
  • Community seating and teen social space

7.Which ideas do you think we should explore?
Here are two different ideas about where to put a new space for adults and teens in the park.
  • Location 1: In the current tot lot area* (if there is support for combining the big and little kid play areas)
  • Location 2: Next to the basketball court seating area near the Washington Street entrance of the park
*Adding an adult and teen space in the current tot lot area is only possible if the little and big kid play areas are combined in the main park.

8.If you would like a dedicated space for adult outdoor fitness and/or teen social hangout areas in the park, where should we put them?
9.What other ideas do you have for new or improved adult or teen spaces in the Park?
