2025 VATFACS Keilondi Johnson Memorial Scholarship |

Administered by the Virginia Association for Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences, Inc. the Keilondi Johnson Memorial Scholarship is intended for teachers currently teaching Family and Consumer Sciences in a Virginia Public School and serving as the Family and Consumer Science Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) adviser.
Keilondi Johnson served in various capacities on the VATFACS Board of Directors. Her positive attitude and enthusiasm in her work encouraged us not to let obstacles limit us. She was a devoted educator, adviser, and mentor. She touched many with her spirit, tenacity, and love.
Requirements for Scholarship:
The Keilondi Johnson Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship in the amount up to $1000 will be awarded to a person or persons attending a professional development event in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences and meeting the following criteria:
1. A Virginia Family and Consumer Sciences teacher,
2. An FCCLA adviser and/or an Educators Rising Teacher Leader,
3. A member of the Virginia Association for Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (VATFACS)
4. Teachers receiving this scholarship must be willing to present knowledge gained through the professional development at the annual Virginia Family and Consumer Sciences Professional Development Institute the year following the award.
Scholarship Guidelines:
The scholarship applicant must currently be a member of VATFACS, teaching Family and Consumer Sciences in a public school in Virginia, and serving as an FCCLA adviser and/or an Educators Rising Teacher Leader.
The deadline for submitting completed scholarship application is set by the VATFACS Executive Board.
The recipient of the scholarship will be notified by May 31 of the year the application is made.
All parts of the application must be completed and attachments present in order to qualify.
A check in the amount of the scholarship will be mailed by July 31 to the recipient(s) of the scholarship and the professional development must take place before April 30 of the following year.
Within 30 days of completing the professional development, the scholarship recipient must send a copy of the certificate of participation in the professional development activity and an outline of the proposed presentation to the then current Past President of VATFACS via email.
If the scholarship recipient does not attend a professional development event and submit a proposal for presentation, the recipient shall be directed to refund the scholarship awarded to the treasurer of VATFACS by July 31 of the year following the award.
Award recipients may apply once every five years.
