GLCA Consultation - Cannabis Survey

Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) recognizes that cannabis businesses are facing difficult economic circumstances as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, cannabis policies have been selected for review to ensure licensees have the opportunities necessary to support their businesses.

Specifically, two potential opportunities for cannabis retailers have been identified for consultation and review. Both of these opportunities would result in amendments to the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act (GLCA):

1. Amending the GLCA to allow retail cannabis licensees to obtain an endorsement on their licence to sell cannabis online.

2. Amending the GLCA to allow non-cannabis items (e.g. apparel) to be sold by cannabis retailers.

Responses will be kept anonymous and will be used to support policy development. The survey will close on June 30, 2021.
