Wausau to Merrill Trail Master Plan Survey 2024 |
Introduction
Marathon and Lincoln Counties are working together to develop a long-term plan for a trail connecting the cities of Wausau and Merrill. This master plan will evaluate the feasibility of routing a recreational trail between the cities, and advance the Counties eligibility for state and federal grants related to future land acquisition, engineering design, and implementation.
It is important to note that this stage of master planning is the beginning of a long process to trail implementation. The master plan will identify potential hazards, challenges, and alternative routes based on the outcomes of public involvement, cost considerations, and physical conditions analysis. The Counties realize the importance and benefits of parks, open space, bicycle and pedestrian facilities and is committed to meeting the needs of their current and future residents.
