Single-use packaging, cigarette butts, plastic bags, and other trash clog storm sewers and wash directly into our rivers and streams. Wildlife gets entangled and ingests this pollution. Litter also creates microplastics and leeches PFAS, known as “forever chemicals”. Picking up trash mitigates these effects.
