Consent to Participate in Study

Dear Black Educators Rock Member,

You are invited to participate in a study examining the impact Facebook group usage has on teacher’s self-efficacy in PreK-12 education settings. We hope to learn whether experiences differ based on age, gender, school setting (public or private) or years of teaching.

Dr. Larry J. Walker, Dr. Ramon B. Goings and Dr. Melissa Chester are conducting the study. You were selected as a possible participant because you are a member of Black Educators Rock (BER).

If you decide to participate, you will respond to a series of questions regarding your experiences in BER and school settings. Your name and other identifying information is not needed nor required. Your answers are anonymous and confidential. Completion of the survey should take no more than 10 minutes.

Participation in the study will not place you at risk for physical, psychological or legal danger. Filling out the survey is voluntary. The results of the study will be shared with you.

Your decision whether or not to participate will not prejudice your future relationship with BER. If you decide to participate, you are free to discontinue participation at any time without prejudice.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you have any additional questions later about the study, please contact the researchers, Dr. Larry J. Walker at educationpolicyissues@gmail.com; Dr. Ramon B. Goings at drramongoings@gmail.com; or Dr. Melissa Chester at melissachester3@gmail.com.

Feel free to print a copy of this form.

You are making a decision whether or not to participate. By answering the questions, you are indicating that you have read the information provided above and have decided to participate. You may withdraw at any time without penalty or loss of any benefits to which you may be entitled after proceeding to the survey should you choose to discontinue participation in this study.
