This award takes its lead from the late Jan Boothroyd, an inspirational, compassionate and talented woman, who dedicated her career to Local Land Charges and led Land Data for 12 years before losing her battle to cancer in 2024.

This award, sponsored by Land Data, encourages nominations for exceptional individuals who are doing more than the day job – they are committed to making a real difference in Local Land Charges. The qualities we’re looking for include:
  • Mentoring staff – even if it’s not required for their role. Displaying excellent interpersonal skills and a knack for building trust and rapport.
  • Strong leadership skills – proactively leading projects, confidently taking forward new ideas and representing the needs of others.
  • Raising performance standards – taking ‘good’ to ‘excellent’ by analysing processes, understanding complex and nuanced issues, and showing keen attention to detail.
  • Devoting extra time to the work of the team – willingly putting in extra hours to benefit the team and its customers.
  • Challenging the status quo – confidently and diplomatically challenging existing cultures and ways of doing things. Influencing others by putting forward new opportunities and explaining their benefits.
  • Championing the role of Local Land Charges in their Local Authority – being a proponent for all things LLC, forging important new relationships, being a ‘go-to’ person for other LA employees.
Essentially this is for those people who live and breathe Local Land Charges! People that others look up to, and gravitate towards.

This award won’t be for everyone. And that’s OK. In fact, that’s the point!

There is no time-frame for eligibility for this award. The nominee could have been in post for 3 years or 30 years – it is their personal attributes that are important, not length of time in post. Award entries can draw on achievements, actions and evidence from the nominee’s entire Local Land Charges career.

The deadline for this award is November 29th 2024.
