Textiles In Linen & Laundry Service: A Federal Study

We are a research team from Fashion Takes Action, an NGO investigating textile waste and opportunities for recycling.

For this research, we are interested in understanding the volume, composition and waste management of textiles processed by linen and laundry services.

Therefore, this survey is only to be completed by linen and laundry service staff who understand the volume that is rented out and/or laundered.

We would like to know more about textile products used in the following sectors and industries:

Hospitals, Long Term Care Facilities, and/or Correctional Services:

Bedding - defined as bed sheets, pillowcases and blankets
Towels
Patient gowns

Restaurants and Food Service:

Tablecloths
Linen napkins
Staff aprons
Chef's uniforms

Hotels:

Bedding - defined as bed sheets, pillowcases and blankets
Towels - hand towels, face towels, bath towels
Robes

Note: Out of scope for all sectors and industries are pillows, waterproof mattress covers or mattresses.
