Preprocedural Patient Anxiety in Dermatologic Procedures: A Cross-sectional Study of Dermatologists

Key Information about this Study
The purpose of this project is to determine dermatologists’ attitudes regarding pre-procedural anxiety, methods to assess patient anxiety, and preferred management of pre-procedural anxiety in their adult and pediatric patients. Participation in the research project is voluntary. It consists of a questionnaire with a socio-demographic section as well as questions concerning measurement and management of pre-procedural patient anxiety. This survey will be open for 4 months. There are no foreseeable risks. Potential participants will have an optional opportunity to be entered into a $100 Amazon®​ gift card giveaway conducted after data collection.
 
Purpose:
You are being asked to be in a research study of dermatologist’s attitudes regarding pre-procedural anxiety because you perform dermatologic procedures on patients. This study is being conducted at Wayne State University.
 
 
Study Procedures
If you take part in the study, you will be asked to fill out a survey as part of a research study. The questions include a socio-demographic section as well as questions concerning measurement and management of pre-procedural patient anxiety. All questions are required to be answered to submit the survey. Active participation is a one-time 3-4 minute survey. There will be no follow-up.  
 
 
Benefits
 As a participant in this research study, there may be no direct benefit for you; however, information from this study may benefit other people now or in the future.
 The possible benefit to you for taking part in this research study is awareness of available anxiety-reducing methods.  
 Additionally, information from this study may benefit other people now or in the future.

There are no known risks at this time to participation in this study.

There will be no costs to you for participation in this research study.

You will not be paid for taking part in this study.
 
Confidentiality:
All information collected about you during the course of this study will be kept without any identifiers.

Taking part in this study is voluntary. You are free to not answer any questions or withdraw at any time. Your decision will not change any present or future relationships with Wayne State University or its affiliates.
