This survey will provide us with valuable detail on our member’s understanding of the scheme benefits and the key reasons for joining the scheme with the aim to learn directly from you and guide the future of the assurance schemes. 2. Access to export markets - A brand that is recognised overseas as well as at home.
3. Whole chain assurance – Animals that are Born and Bred in Scotland – guaranteed.
4. Reduction in farm visits - Belonging to an assurance scheme reduces the frequency of visits by other organisations.
5. Customer confidence – Brands that are trusted and recognised by consumers looking for red meat that is fully traceable with whole of life quality assurance
6. Scheme equivalence - QMS work with other standard owners across the UK to keep key standards on welfare etc aligned.
7. Assessments –Showcase the quality of livestock and ensure that all scheme members are working to the same standards.
8. Support for preparing an assessment – The QMS team are on hand to provide advice, templates and guides to help farmers and crofters prepare for assessments.
9. Standards set by farmers and crofters - The assurance standards are set by a standard-setting body composed mainly of farmers, crofters and key industry members.
10. Animal Welfare – The wellbeing and welfare of stock, and the 5 freedoms of animal welfare are the guiding principles of all the assurance schemes.
11. Environmental – QMS actively promote the low impact of Scotch Red meat on the environment and the importance of red meat to the landscape and carbon cycle in Scotland.
12. Marketing activities - e.g. TV, radio, press/posters/social media, that raise the profile of the Scotch beef, Scotch lamb, and Specially Selected pork brands.
13. Access the most up to date information - On market developments, market prices, industry events, ongoing programme updates, and more.
14. A brand that is recognised and welcomed by processors and retailers
