Introduction

This is a survey to help RICS understand how technology – especially artificial intelligence (AI) technology – is used within the profession. The results will assist RICS with the development of professional standards and enable us to assess how best to support members in relation to that technology. The results of the survey will be for use by RICS staff only and will not be published or shared with any other member/firm.

Artificial intelligence means technology (usually software apps) that creates substantive outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations or decisions. Reference to AI technology in the context of this survey means technology used to assist in the delivery of professional work to clients/ stakeholders – for example, the use of ChatGPT to assist in compiling a report; not for, eg, word processing or internal communication (unless the apps involved create content relevant to professional work).
