Program Description

The Johnson Matthey STEM Teaching Fellows Program is an intensive short-term teacher and educator professional development series designed for those seeking to grow and deepen the STEM literacy of their students and learners. Designed for Out-of-School time educators who work with 6th-12th grade students, this program will showcase the work and expertise of Johnson Matthey, a global science and chemicals company and a leader in sustainable technologies.

These workshops will be held virtually and cover a wide variety of topics related to STEM teaching and learning. The Teaching Fellows will then produce and present a Capstone Project: an engaging STEM lesson plan to implement either in an informal setting or their classrooms.  The sessions plus the presentation session will take place on Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:30am from mid-February through May 2022. Applications are due on Wednesday, February 23rd, with decisions emailed by Tuesday, March 1st, 2022.

Completing the Johnson Matthey STEM Teaching Fellows Program will provide critical professional development, and valuable relationships with Philadelphia STEM experts. Participants who complete the program will also receive a $300.00 stipend, Act 48 credits, and assistance in implementing their Capstone Projects.
