Are you passionate about helping our San Mateo County youth reach their full potential? Apply now to become a County of San Mateo Jobs for Youth (JFY) Workgroup member. JFY is seeking volunteers to fill two seats in our JFY Workgroup. JFY Workgroup members play a vital role in fundraising, marketing, and reviewing applications for our Scholarship program for San Mateo County youth. Applicants must have an interest in civic involvement, must be 18 years of age or older, and either resident in San Mateo County or work in San Mateo County.

About the JFY Workgroup
Our Purpose: The purpose of the JFY Workgroup is to support the JFY Al Teglia Scholarships. Scholarships are available to San Mateo County youth age 16-21 who plan to pursue a college or vocational education.
Our Mission: The JFY Workgroup provides the Jobs for Youth program support via fundraising, financial oversight, scholarship marketing and application review, and trusted, collaborative community partnership building.
Our Vision: The JFY Workgroup envisions a financially sound, stable Jobs for Youth program with long-term viability and impact.

About the JFY Workgroup

Our Focus:
- Fundraising and financial oversight
- Breakfast fundraiser marketing and day of operations
- Scholarship marketing and Scholarship application review
- Building and maintaining community partnerships
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Attend at least 5 out of the 8 yearly meetings and give notice at least 48 hours in advance for missed meetings. We understand that your time is valuable and also appreciate the impact you can make in each of the important meetings. Your commitment means the world to us.
- We are looking for individuals who are committed to our program for one year.
- Take responsibility for maintaining a relationship with at least one funder each year (e.g., by making 1-2 thank you calls, meeting for coffee, or attending a City Council meeting).
- Help market the Jobs for Youth Al Teglia Scholarships.
- Volunteer at the Annual JFY Fundraising Breakfast.
- Purchase or sell at least one JFY Fundraising Breakfast ticket or table.
Meetings
Regular meetings of the JFY Workgroup will generally be held once per month on the first Thursday of each month from September through May. There are no meetings in June, July and August. When appropriate, meeting may be scheduled more or less frequently.
JFY staff will attend meetings and serve as a staff liaison. Staff prepare agendas, meeting packets, and finalizes action minutes.
Membership
The JFY Workgroup consists of 10-12 volunteer members, appointed by the JFY Workgroup and the JFY Team, who are qualified either by experience or by demonstrated interest in supporting the JFY Workgroup mission.
Members of the JFY Workgroup must be 18 years of age or older and serve without compensation.
Terms of Members
