The BVA Animal Health and Welfare Overseas Award (J.Trevor Blackburn Award) is awarded in recognition of contributions to animal health and welfare in low and middle income countries. Your nominee must be a BVA member to be eligible for this award.

However well-known the nominee may be in the veterinary sector, the nominator should assume that their candidate may be unknown to the Selection Committee.

To complete this form you will need:
  • Supporting statement on why your nominee deserves this award (max 200 words)
  • Supporting evidence reflecting significant contributions:
    • Country/countries nominee has worked in
    • Contributions overseas such as animal health, animal welfare, public health, environmental needs, communities
    • Services to the veterinary profession such as to BVA and RCVS, and elsewhere, for example educational, advisory, supportive
Nominations for the 2025 Award should be submitted by 12pm, Monday 2 June 2025.
