Dear Students:
You are invited to participate in a research study that examines self-awareness, empathy and emotional intelligence.   The purpose of this study is to investigate whether  professional counseling training and acting training cultivate self-awareness, empathy and emotional intelligence.

The procedure includes a brief demographic questionnaire, the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) and the Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT).  These surveys are composed of questions regarding  self-awareness,  empathy and emotional intelligence.  This survey should take approximately 15 minutes of your time to complete.

The Monmouth University Institutional Review Board approved the study and procedures. The study involves no foreseeable risks or harm to you.  Further, the risks are no greater than in ordinary life.  The study involves an examination of the personal and professional growth of current professional counseling program students and graduates.  Your participation in this research may benefit researchers by adding to the knowledge regarding the  personal and professional growth of current professional counseling program students and graduates.  There are no direct benefits to you being in this study.
