ATE-funded Immersive Cycle Training Project – Expressions of Interest |
We are looking for training providers who would like to get involved in a series of immersive training-related subprojects we intend to run from now until January 2025.
A rough outline of these subprojects is as follows:
Subproject 1: Harnessing Instructor Expertise (~Jan-Feb’24): How can we best consolidate Level 2 Learning?
We want to tap your instructors’ expertise through a series of face-to-face conversations: If you had 30 minutes to provide 1-2-1 training to a Level 2 graduate, so that you could significantly increase your confidence in their ability to ride independently on roads, what would you focus on?
Subproject 2: Validating Immersive Training. Is there a link with rider on-road performance?
Selected training providers and instructors will have the opportunity to assess riders 1-2-1, in both real world and immersive environments – and give their feedback on doing so.
Subproject 3: 1-2-1 Virtual Rides
Selected training providers and instructors will provide 1-2-1 training for young riders – before and/or after they receive Level 2 training.
Subproject 4: Group Virtual Rides
Selected training providers and instructors will provide training for large groups of young riders, for example, in classroom settings, and assess learning.
Where applicable, The Bikeability Trust will provide bespoke equipment and software, guidance on how to run the project, funding for instructor time, and support for data collection. Selected training providers will have the opportunity to keep the bespoke equipment and software once the project has been completed, so that they may continue to deliver immersive cycle training.
By taking part, training providers will be promoting the Bikeability programme, delivering a fun complement to existing Bikeability training, and providing additional evidence for the usefulness of immersive cycling as a complement to Bikeability Level 2 training.
