Derbyshire Dales District Council organises Matlock Bath Illuminations. This 127-year tradition continues mainly through entrance charges, and the budget is tight - one wet weekend can have a massive impact on finances. The Council's aims are simple: to stage an entertaining value-for-money family event that boosts the local economy, and fund it without having to ask local Council Tax payers to contribute.

Your feedback prompted us to reduce the capacity in Derwent Gardens by 2,000. In 2021 we reduced the capacity again by a further 2,000 to allow for better social distancing - and we have stuck with that capacity ever since. Your responses to this survey will help us continue to improve. Thank you.

We are delighted that we have been shortlisted in the Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards for 'Festival or event of the year' Please vote for us here.
