Historical Association and HTEN ITE Survey 2024 |
Introduction
The Historical Association is the voice for history. As the subject association for history in schools, with close to 10,000 members and over 40,0000 who regularly engage with us, including many involved in primary and secondary initial teacher education, we are well placed to gather and report on the status of history ITE. This is why we are working in partnership with the History Teacher Educator Network (HTEN) to gather data from teacher educators across the country concerning the status of primary and secondary history beginning teacher education.
We need your help. As the new government begins its work, now is an important moment for teacher educators to have their say about issues affecting history teacher education to ensure that we can present your views accurately to policy makers.

This survey is aimed at all ITE programme providers across all ITE routes and all education phases in England. Please take just 20 minutes to complete our survey, your answers enable us to identify trends concerning history teacher education and provision, and to lobby and campaign through evidence-based research.
You do not have to be a member of the HA to take part, so please spread the word to colleagues in other programmes to have their say and be a part of the only national research specifically focused upon history initial teacher education at all levels.
The closing date is 30 September 2024 at midnight.
