The IPV Task Force aims to raise awareness of the incidence of IPV in the surgical community; educate surgeons to recognize the signs and consequences of IPV in themselves and their colleagues; provide resources for survivors; and create resources and curricula to instruct surgeons about how to recognize IPV in colleagues and trainees.

Membership Requirements
Applicants must be an active Fellow or Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in good standing.

Meeting Attendance Requirements
Attend 75% of the Task Force meetings each year (average of 3-4 meetings/year).


Participation Requirements
Actively participate in a minimum of one project/initiative beyond attending meetings and meeting the deadlines set forth. Some examples of participation include:
  • Writing a clinical congress session proposal
  • Assisting with researching and writing a topic for an ACS Statement of the College
  • Developing resources and educational materials on IPV
  • Serve as a moderator/panelists for Clinical Congress, webinars, and/or other opportunities
Membership Term
A member is eligible to serve one 3-year term. Upon evaluation and assessment of meeting the membership, participation requirements, and needs of the Task Force, a member may receive an extension of their membership for an additional term of 3 years. This membership extension is at the review and discretion of the Task Force Leadership Team. An additional term is not guaranteed.
