There are a number of events scheduled on the day and it is possible to attend some/all of the sessions.

The day has two main elements - in the morning IADT will be presenting a Digital Skills in Action Case Study, following research into digital aspects of the 2015 Intro to FACT 1st year module. This module is a first year 5 credit module in the Faculty of Film, Art and Creative Technologies. It was taken from September to December 2015 by 388 students across 12 FACT programmes working with 10 lecturers. It aims to enable students to get to know the faculty and to develop their FACT network. The IADT case study research has involved IADT 1st year students, lecturers and staff. The TEL day will allow us to feedback valuable findings to our Digital Skills in Action Leinster Pillar 1 cluster colleagues from IADT, UCD, TCD, NCAD and Marino Institute of Education.

In the afternoon the Keynote Address with Dr. Grainne Kirwan will address the following topic:

‘Your online identity: Privacy and impression management online’

Not so long ago, most educators had distinct private and professional lives, with relatively little information available in public fora. With the advent of social media and widespread internet usage, this privacy is less prevalent, and extensive information is easily accessible by students, colleagues, employers and the general public about lecturers, teachers, administrators, and others in the education sector. As a result, it is helpful to be mindful of both the information available about us online, and the impressions that others might form about us based on our online presence. This talk will present some practical advice based on empirical studies on how to curate and protect your online presence.
