About:
The Recreating Henderson Street corridor project is a street design effort for and by the Rainier Beach community that will create a vision and improvement plan for S Henderson Street. Here is a YouTube link to an aerial flyover of the corridor.

The Recreating Henderson Street Project Team is engaging with residents, students, businesses, property owners, organizations, artists, and everyone in between to gather ideas and input to recreate S Henderson Street as a beautiful neighborhood street that reflects community values, history, and identity. This corridor runs east and west to connect the Rainier Beach light rail station to Be'er Sheva Park and Lake Washington.

Project Goals:
  • Activate and enhance spaces along S Henderson Street for community and recreational opportunities
  • Create a safe and vibrant cultural corridor that represents the diversity of Rainier Beach
  • Feature art by neighborhood artists and youth
  • Engage community, businesses, and property owners in the street design process
