Lyme Community grading of local Public Health Unit
In October, 2017 a formal complaint was filed against the KFL&A Public Health director for unprofessional and non-transparent behavior during interactions/collaborations/presentations with Lyme Kingston representatives and stakeholders. The request for review is finally underway by KFL&A Board of Health, and hopefully there will be some more investigation into how our health unit is handling the Lyme epidemic.

Strategic direction # 1
Provide scientific and technical expertise to strengthen Ontario’s public health sector and support the achievement of its goals. -This covers generating new public health knowledge, support population health monitoring, drive policy and practice action. This support of the sector will be achieved by developing appropriate tools knowledge products, professional development and collaborative opportunities.

Accelerate integrated population health monitoring -As science and technology are rapidly changing using a greater degree of integration and the combining of traditional and emerging sources and sectors of data to enable them more complete health population monitoring. By building models of collaboration, increasing accessibility of data, and serving as a local resource that will ultimately provide decision makers and practitioners information to reduce inequities .

Enable policy, program and practice action. -Synthesize and evaluate existing evidence that influences current and future programs, policies and PRACTICE -Resolve conflicting information, recognize uncertainties in evidence, -Look at risk assessment and local context -Understanding what can be accomplished through practice, programming or policy, with different sectors and their goals. -Help researcher identify what research is needed to support policies and PHO agenda -Provide professional development and continued education and empower health care providers to apply PHO knowledge with confidence. Advance public health evidence and knowledge-Lead the generation of new public health knowledge in priority areas; diagnostics, pathogen discovery, managing outbreaks, detecting drug resistance, environmental assessment and public health genomics
-Develop innovative approaches and methodologies for public health implementation science.
-Evaluate and enhance complex population health interventions by improving understanding of complex health issues, inter-sectoral collaboration and participation in solving public health problems through integration and the development of new approaches for multi-leveled, multi-sectoral population and PH interventions.
