Expression of Interest

Northern Health recognises that our service users and staff are diverse in many different ways. We actively promote respect, equity and inclusion, and we recognise and appreciate individual differences. We also understand that some of these differences create disadvantage.

Diversity encompasses factors like age, ability, cultural and linguistic background, ethnicity, gender, religious and spiritual beliefs, sexual identity, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status.

The Northern Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Steering Committee oversees the five reporting sub-committees:

·         LGBTIQA+

·         Refugee and Asylum Seeker,

·         Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander,

·         People with Disabilities,

·         Cultural Responsiveness.

 

Each sub-committee is aimed at improving the safety and inclusion of staff, patients and visitors who belong to one or more of the identified communities.

We need your help

We are looking for new members for each sub-committee, along with champions across the organisation to participate/assist in planned events and promote the objectives and work being undertaken by the sub-committees.

Each sub-committee meets monthly and we are asking that members attend at least 80% of meetings to continue the discussion and implementation of key actions
