Kaupapa Māori / Māori Medium Employment Based Initial Teacher Education (EBITE) Funding Award |
EBITE programmes focused on Kaupapa Māori, and Māori medium education were established to enable individuals holding Limited Authority to Teach (LAT) to undertake a teaching qualification while employed in a school/kura.
Eligible schools/kura can apply for funding to support a LAT trainee teacher through an approved EBITE programme. The Ministry will cover reliever costs, trainee teacher support costs, a contribution to course costs, and induction related costs to support a LAT trainee teacher. There are up to 65 funding awards available per cohort, with new cohorts starting every two years. The first cohort will begin in 2025.
