The United Nations General Assembly has designated 13 October as International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) to promote a global culture of disaster risk reduction. The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 (Sendai Framework), adopted in 2015, guides member states with concrete actions to protect development gains from disaster risk reduction. The Sendai Framework has seven strategic targets and 38 indicators for measuring progress on reducing disaster risk and losses. Each year the IDDRR focuses on one of the targets of the Sendai Framework. This year the focus is on Target G.
